VDOT Calculator updates for Jack Daniel’s long runs and ultramarathon race prediction

I've made some changes to my VDOT Calculator
  • Fix bug in weeks 19 and 21 of “Jack Daniel’s Plan A” long runs. Those weeks have the lower of 22 miles or 3 hours, but the calculator was using 3 hours at marathon pace rather than easy pace.
  • Change the race time predictor for races longer than 50K. For these races, the VO2max calculation is done to predict a marathon race, then the Cameron model is used to predict the longer run from the marathon prediction.

  1. Hi Jonathan - I was the guy that mentioned the bug to you in email. I meant to reply also, but didn't get to it til saw this update, that the Daniels book I have shows "2.5 hours or 22m, whichever is lesser." This is different from the 3 hours that you are showing.

Is this a variation between editions?

  2. Sorry, that was another problem that I missed. I've been through and double checked the workouts, and I believe they're right. I'm using the second edition tables. Sorry about that!
